Your Ring Thing® Questions, Answered.

Yes. Ring Thing® holds three patents covering its design and construction. It is the only waterproof, patented ring holder designed exclusively for rings.

Most ring holders on the market are general-purpose jewelry containers — designed to hold rings, earrings, necklaces, and sometimes pills, hearing aids or vitamins. The Ring Thing® was designed exclusively for rings from the very beginning. Key differences include: a waterproof, airtight threaded seal; a padded inner base; silicone separator disks that prevent rings from touching or scratching each other; and a floating design. Ring Thing® holds three patents covering its unique design and construction — no other ring holder on the market is built the same way.

Yes — the Ring Thing® is waterproof, airtight, and floats. The threaded screw-top creates a precision seal that keeps water out completely, making it safe to use at the pool, beach, lake, or anywhere near water. If it ever drops in, it won’t sink.

Yes — that’s one of the core reasons it was designed the way it was. The threaded screw-top creates a watertight seal, and the Ring Thing® floats if dropped in water. It was built for active, on-the-go lifestyles where rings need real protection, not just convenient storage.

No. The Ring Thing® uses a threaded screw-top closure — the same type of mechanism used on prescription pill bottles, waterproof camera housings, and premium food storage containers. Opening requires deliberate twisting. It will not open from being dropped, shaken, or carried in a bag. The screw-top is also what makes the Ring Thing® waterproof and airtight — a carabiner-style or latch-style closure cannot create the same sealed environment.

Because a threaded screw-top is the only closure type that creates a true waterproof, airtight seal. Latch and carabiner-style closures have inherent gaps in their mechanism — that’s how they open. A threaded seal eliminates that gap entirely when closed. If you need your rings protected near water, a screw-top isn’t a weakness. It’s the feature that makes waterproof protection possible.

Very secure. The threaded screw-top requires deliberate rotational force to open — it will not open accidentally from being bumped, dropped, or jostled in a bag. The precision closing mechanism gives a smooth, firm action that holds firmly until you choose to open it.

It depends on the size and style. Four bands can be stacked comfortably, and the silicone separator disks keep them from touching or scratching each other. Rings with larger settings will naturally take up more space.

The Ring Thing® holds rings up to at least a size 12.5 with a stone. Capacity will vary depending on the height and setting of the stone. For stacking multiple rings, the included silicone separator disks keep each ring protected and in place.

No. The post is designed to sit just below the top of the container — close enough that even a thin band cannot slip off when inverted. This is one of the intentional functional design elements protected by Ring Thing®’s patents.

Yes. Each Ring Thing® comes with three silicone separator disks. We recommend placing one on top of the last ring in the stack to protect rings from contact with the top when inverted. We’re happy to provide additional disks at no charge — just reach out to us at info@ringthing.com.

The Ring Thing® measures 1.88 inches high and 1.50 inches wide at the base, with an inner diameter of 1.31 inches. The space from the edge of the inner post to the edge of the inner base is 0.44 inches — designed specifically to cradle rings securely without excess movement.

The Ring Thing® was designed specifically to protect rings, and that’s its primary purpose. It also works well for earrings, necklaces, and chain or line bracelets. The silicone separator disks allow multiple items to be stacked without touching. Some customers choose to store other small personal items inside, and that is an option available at the discretion of the user.

No. The Ring Thing® is built to be extremely durable. We’ve dropped it onto concrete and had a 170-pound man stand on it — it held up fully and opened beautifully once he stepped off. You can watch that test on our website.
